Default tuning turbo

Just wanted to know what you guys think. I'm gonna be installing a turbo kit on my b18c1 with forged internals, pistons at 9.8 comp., eagle rods. It's a turbonetics t3/t4 57 trim running at 8.7 psi. Other details Walbro 255lph fuel pump, rc 550 injectors, blox intake manifold, itr 2001 cams and springs. Do you guys think running a basemap made for the turbo setup on my p28 will be safe until I get some more cash to get it tuned? I understand I won't be at peak power until it is tuned, but as far as it being safe (ie. not blowing up the motor) keeping a/f ratios in a safe range. Can that be done with just a base map?

if you stay out of boost running a basemap will not hurt your car..

Your best bet is to contact a tuner in the directory and setup an appointment with them

So pretty much everyone running a turbo in a honda has had to physically bring their car to a tuner , nobody has given specs of the engine to the tuner to have a chip made up and run off that? This must just go back to even though an engine can be the same no two engines will run the same principal?

A basemap is made to get your car from your house to a tuner, spend money on a tune the first time. It really isnt worth risking a motor

+1

It amazes me how people spend a few thousand dollars building their motor & buying a turbo kit but they hesistate to spend several hundred dollars when its time to spend money on tuning.

This maybe the case if your tuner knows what he is doing.

A tuner maybe able to dial in your air/fuel ratios by street tuning your car, however ignition timing is a little different. Some local so called "tuners" think they can read a few articles on the internet & look at other people's basemaps to learn how much timing to run. This works for the most part, but do they really know what they are doing ?

This is where experience & the importance of a dyno comes into the picture.
