Default Acknowleding a nice car..

Just curious as to how some people go about this, or even if you do. When I see a nice car, be it import/domestic, I can tell some work has been put into it, I let the person know. Whether I give them a thumbs up/ honk(usually for the hot rodders), head nod...whatever, just something to get my point across. If this has ever been done to you, or you have ever done it to someone, how to acknowledge/react to them? I personally give a wave, just to show I know what the hells going on and I appreciate there appreciation for my car. Sometimes though, more often in the import crowd than domestic(I own two imports so im just saying) it seems as though they don't seem to know how to take a compliment or anything or appreciation. I gave a guy a nice nod today and he pretty much blew me off. I just think its disrespectful when you go out of your way to notice they have a nice car and realize that a good amount of work has been put into it, and they just give you the big F you-pretty much. Any thoughts/suggestions/opinions? How do you/if you do/acknowlegde others work in cars on the road? how do you take a compliment?

A simple thumbs up is what I give.

When I get I either smile and wave or give a return thumbs up.

I'll throw a thumbup or say something.
If i'm to far away for them to hear anything I'll either nod or throw a little wave. Either way I respond.

Depends on how nice. I mean, I usually just talk to them.

I usually only give a thumbs up, or throw a peace sign... I can't explain why I do that last one, but that's what I did today when I saw a guy with a white Evo who I have briefly chatted with once or twice before. I usually only do it to guys with modded Evos and DSMs, recognizing the effort it takes to keep a turbo DSM on the road and the general cool-ness of the Evo. It's also something I only do when I'm in my car, because I think it would look weird coming from someone in a stock Honda Accord or Nissan Altima.

I don't have to deal with compliments from others- driving a car that looks as bad as mine does that to ya, but it also means I don't worry that it will be vandalized when I walk out of class, or gone completely. It's what's inside that counts anyway.

^^^I totally understand where you are coming from. I hate talking about my car, just because I'm not like all the other people and I don't like people knowing what I have done to my car(it just bothers me to know people know I have a nice amount of money in it). when someone gives me a thumbs up though or has a respectable question or wants to carry on a nice conversation about there car its cool. Especially when they know nothing about my car and I know nothing about theirs, it interests me to know people want to learn more about cars they dont even care to possess. I dont know, it may just be me but I think its cool. Good call John..This Buds for you.::cough::
