Question 1995 Talon ESI: Oil leak

Hey all! I've got an oil leak problem.
I just noticed this as I was changing my oil last weekend, but now that I think of it, I think its been leaking for a while.
I don't see any oil leaking from the oil pan, bolt plug, or the oil filter, but it looks like its coming somewhere near where the engine meets the tranny.
I've heard of people having this issue because of the head gasket or the rear main seal leaking.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
help or advise?
I appreciate your input, help, or advice!
Thanks!

Is it leaking from inside the bellhousing? If it is the headgasket you'd be able to find signs of oil coming from the head/block mating surface.

Are you sure it's engine oil and not gear oil? Gear oil would leak from the bell housing if your input shaft seal is leaking.

I can see the oil dripping off of, this is very hard to describe, what looks to be a center bar under where the engine meets the tranny. It looks like some kind of bar for a motor mount which is connected to it. I hope this description helps.
Anyway, if I look at the engine from above I don't see any oil leaking from the front of valve cover, but if I try to look in the back, I am not able to see anything since my view is obstructed. I'm assuming the leak is coming from behind somewhere, but exacty where I don't know.

Oh, another thing, I've noticed the smell of gasoline fumes only when I drive with my windows down. I don't know if I should be concerned about this or not. Also, I can smell this near where my gas cap is.
Have any of you or anyone you know had this issue?

It could be a couple of places where you oil leak is coming from. If it is how you described around the crossmember, check around where the oilpressure switch which is on the back of the block on the drivers side. Also being a 95 if you have never done any other work on the tranny, the drive axle main seal does have a tendancy to wear out after 10 years. That would be on the passenger side of the block. You could have gear oil coming out of there. Good luck
