Default need some gst advice

my friend has a 97 gst and he just traded a t25 for a fmic. the fmic is 18x6x3. right now the motor is stock besides a 14b and plug wires but he just got the car and is slowly modding it. my question is is that fmic too small? for now his plans are step 1 intake, exhaust bov, mbc. i think it would be fine for that but if he goes with step 2 a big16g or bigger with fuel and safc will that fmic be too small. i was told that the stock smic gets heat soaked at about 17psi. what would be a safe boost level to run step 1 and step 2 as a daily driver? sorry for all the questions but 1 more, is it easier to run the fmic piping on a 2g if both inlet and outlet ports are on the same end? again sorry for all the questions but thanks for any nonflaming input you have.

Dont know much but the core doesent sound too big at least not for a 16g. I think Fernando is running a similar size core if not larger on his t25.

Correct me if im wrong but as far as boost I always ran 15 -17 psi on my t25 so on a 14b i would keep it at 15 psi unless you have a way of adding a little more fuel.

No I wouldn't think that its to small for a 14B. Like Dario, I ran my T25 at 11 low and 16 high alot. But for the 14B I would keep it a around 14 or 15 until you get some type of fuel control. The 450's in the stock motor should have no problem supplying it with fuel at 15psi. Also Step 1-- you might want to tell him to add a boost gauge and a EGT. Just to keep an eye on everything. Now do you know what kind of core it is? Let us know and we can help more.

that is a decent size and it should fit the whole grill, you mean a bar and plate or a tube and fin....sounds like you have a tube and fin, not a bad choice it should get some effecient cooling

yes tube and fin. it fits behind the bumper good but you do see the end tanks. it has the inlet and outlet out the back like a 1g would need. he was thinking about just selling it and getting one plenty big enough. with proper fuel mods and tuning devices will the motor handle more boost in the 20psi range?

just leave the stock side mount on there with the 16g my friend ran his car with a 16g and a stock side mount and ran 25 psi and it ran pretty good my advise work your your fuel first then worry about more boost and bigger intercooler.

Not always having a big intercooler is the best thing either. You can go to big for your set up.
