Default Launching problem

ok i went to sunshine today for my first time and i am having trouble launching my car. i have a 98 gt with xpipe and flowmaster 40s but nothing else atm, on the street i can rev upto 2500 and dump it and spin a bit then catch but the launch is good since while im spinning im moving forward.

my first run at the track i try this and i spin so nasty i dont even move hardly. second run i try droping it a bit lower thinking i was a little to high so i drop it at about 2000 and the car stalls out so im like wtf!! so third time i try from about 1500 and it bogs out to about 500rpms then decides it wants to move which fucks me . i asked some people and they said to keep on the clutch a bit through the launch but when i tryed it the car still boged out just didnt do it as long.

pisses me off cus i know this car can produce much better times then a 10.40 @70mph which was my best time and odd enough that was with one of the badder launches so im a little confused .

well anyway if anyone has any advice on launching at the track please post some for me cus i plan on goin back out every wed till i get it right so lmk

thanks

practice practice practice

get some DR's, it really helps

but you have to "feather" the clutch out, you cant just drop it because it shocks the tires and you just spin. sidestepping doesnt do anything for you

i had nitto DR's 275/50/15's in back and i would let the car rev to 2500, launch on the third yellow, let the clutch out not too fast, and the sec it hooked lay into the throttle more, then when you know you have caught floor it. do this till you have it down pat, then you will do it all fluidly and not spin while also not thinking about it. then youll be able to lay into it after you play with the clutch.

its not something you are going to get the first couple times out there. take your time, do what you need to do and not worry about your times yet. be much more concerned with your 60's.

then you can learn to powershift once you have the clutch play down and youll be flying in no time

or buy an automatic j/k yep you cant just dump the clutch or you will just spin on street tires, trust me I can keep from spinning in my Automatic Sunshine has the worst track prep.Bradenton is much better equipped to prep the track.

thanks for the tips , yea im gana keep at it till i can get good

i recently got a set of 01 cobra wheels that came with some dunlop 245/45Z tires they seem to be pretty good street tires

as far as mods i think a rear gear would be the best bang for my buck since i can put it in myself do you think the rear gear would be a better investment right now insted of a intake or something along the 200$ line?

gears are going to make your traction prob worse invest in a set of LCA's and UCA's and use the power your already unable to control(has nothing to do with Steering btw)Suspension over Power hook like your on velcro then build more power, races are won by Traction over Power in alot of cases.
