Whats the reason? Not enough spectators?

JC

i don['t lnow the real story so i won't say anything... all i know is that we were all told to leave... then people started getting tazered, peoples faces were melting from the sun, limbs were flying all over the place... enjuku tire smoke wasn't the only thing red, flopping vaginas with wings in the air... it was amazing...

Well I guess that what we can say to this is :wtf: Many people went by the flyers times and from what I read in the forums did not plan to show up until sometime after 1pm or 2pm. The ones that were there put on a good show and I hoped had a good time doing it. The owner of the facility decided around 2pm that there was nothing going to happen and nobody was showing up and seemed to be influenced into shutting the event down. Enjuku was taken off of the track during a run by Five-O and everyone was told that they had to leave, even the promotors for the event. So everyone started packing up and in a respectful manner. I myself would like to give props to the racers for their cooperation in packing up. I'm not sure yet what will be made of the situation but I know for a fact there was many more people on their way as the phone on the flyer was ringing many moons since 2pm from people wanting to know what time everything was starting and to get directions. Hope to find out soon what the whole ordeal is but who knows. Thanks to everyone who came out.

i feel almost left out that i missed all of the drama there.

Just as I was about to leave tampa i was told it was closed down.
Good thing too.. it would have sucked to get there and it be cancelled.

When I went out there, everyone was packing up at 3pm, which is fu*ked up. I must say, the tracks at Auburdale is alot better than Lakeland just because they dont have any concrete walls. Love the 8 figure. But the bleacher and rest of the stadium is rather....messy. The gates were really rusty and roads were graveled. Other than that, its a good home for a full time drifting event for Central FL. Hate to see another track that outlaws drifting.

i think we need a track, where you can go anyday of the week, pay a small entrance fee, and drift all day. i think something like that would be kinda awesome.

something along the lines of Sekia hills in japan

Uh... here we go. Please dont get people started on building a track again. Weve gone over that subject time in and out. Please dont go there. Glad I didnt go, sorry that it turned out shitty.. Sounds like alot of people dropped the ball as far as promotions go. From what Rob was telling me it was pretty decent :dunno:

Why isn't the promoters chiming in on this?

05-29-2005, 08:26 AM
I was one of the few who stayed there... woke up at 7:30, started drifting at around 9ish, and went until around 2 or so. I thought it was better than the first day, which absolutely blew... $25 and I got through 2 sets of tires, so I guess I got plenty of seat time. If we can get a set amount of hours on paper or something, then I think it would be great. But it still blows that they had to shut it down so early.

This sucks and it's not ALL of Polk County that feels the way this promoter / owner did. Stay tuned, we are working on a REAL event that will take. A two-day program in Polk County. Hang in there and keep on drifting; Polk County does want drifters and the one's that killed this event do not represent all of the promoters out there!

Well that goes for everything that we do in life. We put alot of effort into something, but fails at the end. Sort of like trying to impregnate your pillow. But still, what is the main reason(s) for this cancellation? Get a hold of the owner and see what's up someone.

It wasnt that bad if you got there early. Kinda sucked that pretty much all of the non drifters were acting like we're all idiots and street racer punks.

The cops weren't very respectful either. Especially the one who thought he was neo from the matrix. He just stood in front of a car in a full out drift and acted like he could stop it by holding up his hand. This was the same cop who tried to give me shit for taking off my plate. Over all a real piece of shit human being.

I'll never go there. ever.

The track owner left for Kansas City on Friday morning. The track was left in the hands of his next in line. She and a security officer evidently relayed comments to one another and got with the cops and shut the event down themselves. The promotors had no part in the cancelling of the event. From what is known they might have ran their normal Saturday night roundy round event and that would be why they cancelled it and threw everyone and the promotors out at 3pm. As their racing normally starts around 7pm. I was working at the event and the turnout obviously was not grand. But most drivers did get a lot of seat time. Matt and Rob did an excellent job running the drifting, as well as their exhibitions. And like I said, I myself want to thank everyone for cooperating even through all the b/s of the cancellation.
