Read this to get some ideas and go to some of the meets (ie. Quaker Stake and Lube, etc...)

There are a lot of people on this forum that are very knowledgeable and willing to help after you have done some research on your own.

Nice car and good luck!

P.S.

It will probably cost you at least $500, but it's all relative to the extent of the work performed.

be prepared to spend alot on a transmission.
se-r trannies in good shape get around 500$ and sometimes more.

i cant remember if the mount locations are the same or not, if not youll have to re weld the mount brackets on.
youll need the transmission, mounts, flywheel, clutch, pedal assembly, clutch cable, flywheel bolts, shifter, both drive axles.

only thigns im not positive on, is if the mount brackets are different, if the ecu needs to be replaced/reprogrammed, and if the spindles are splined the same.

all in all, i would sell the automatic, and buy a 5 speed car.

B14NIZMO: The Dr. knows his stuff. If cost is an issue, I would go with his suggestion, unless you are really attached to the car.

you should be able to get more for the auto anyway, its a more rare car, and has higher blue book value.

from sr20forum:

you will need a manual crossmember all the trans mounts, brackets, cable, shift rods, shifter, knob speed sensor crank sensor/flywheel sensor (on a b14 only) you would need to make the crank sensor wire longer if it is automatic since the sensors location on a manual is more towards the front as opposed to an auto which sits higher, you would need to rewire your reverse lights into the manual harness and the nuetral safety switch. the clutch pedal and bracket you would need a new brake pedal also, drilol thru your firewall to get the cable to the pedal and misc and most important the transmission.
there are alot more little misc parts i did not list because i dont remember what they were.

this guy also suggested selling the auto, and buying a new car.

i didnt know there was the much involved. i thought it would be like slapping in a new tranny, clutch, and some petals and i'd be good. now thinking about all of that i might reconsider or save my money and get a diff. car. well thanks for all the help and advice i appreciate it.
