Default need ignition help - eclipse

ok, here's my setup:
1g head on 2g block
1g coil pack

we rebuilt the engine and put it back in the car. but now we cannot figure out the firing order. the haynes manual (for both 1g and 2g) says the firing order for the spark plugs 4-1-2-3, but when we do this, the car runs like crap. we have tried just about every other variation, but nothing works properly. i know that the motor needs to be broken in and tuned for it to run properly, but we cannot get it to run smoothly. anyone have any ideas? is there something special i have to do with a 1g head/2g block setup? maybe one of you dsm experts can come out here and take a look at it. i would be willing to pay for your time and lunch or whatever. thanks

did you check your timing and make sure you set it right, i also looked in my 1g book and it says the firing order is 1,3,4,2, so i think it should be the same for your car also double check your firing order.

4-1-2-3 sounds right to me. Check your base timing and make sure you have the right cylinders numbered.

yes, and it is a waste spark system so the firing order on the coil can be 1-4-2-3 or 4-1-3-2, also check your wires, and coil pack for spark
