ok are gen 1 trannys known to take a crap i have no reverse or 5th and its tough to go into the other gears and when you let go of the clutch in reverse it makes a grinding noise tranny! I got another one today.

Take the cover off the front of the tranny in the car of course and the nut has probly come off. You may be about to put it back on and still drive the car.
