I'm cruising home and I see this White 97+ Buick weaving in and out of traffic. Well it gets caught at the same light I do, the guy looks over at me with his rainbow looking knit hat on and nods. He turns down his radio and starts revving the engine. I'm thinking to myself is he serious? :lol: . The light turns green and I pull off the line by almost a car hit second gear and fended the white beast off up to about 60, we par up, by third gear he is pulling on me pretty good. We go up to about 105ish and I think he hit his rev limiter, he was about 2 cars ahead by then. I just pulled up along side of him and pulled away to about 115 or so. I back off shortly thereafter and cruise. He gets up on my ass so I just pull off to the side of the road and let him pass :D .

Thanks for the link, the exact reason why I slowed down when said person started acting dumb :D . It was on an uninhabited 4 lane stretch of road with nothing but fields.

The time frame was obviously long because my car is nowhere near fast. When I'm racing I don't think about how long it takes me to get there :lol: .

1. My car weighs about 2300 lbs
2. That was from a dyno over a year ago.
3. He hit his rev limiter because I could hear the car bogging off it when I passed :lol:

I've driven my Gramps Regal GS a lot and if he was really racing you off the line, he would have OWNED you. Those things have a lot of torque at low RPM and are pretty quick up to 90mph or so......considering what they are.

Never said my car was fast, nor have I ever claimed it to be. The only thing I have said is that it's quick for having basically just a transmission swap and some plugs/wires for "mods" . :D

Go to Bradenton and see what it will run in the 1/4-mile. My old 1994 Saturn SC2 automatic ran 16.1 @ 85mph. My current Lancer ES is NOTICEABLY slower than that......... :( :lol:

I run a 10.3 in the 1/8th, I have slips to back it :D Not sure what I would do in the 1/4 as my factory stroked little 2 litre has no top end ass, but nice amounts of bottom end torque, so probably not much :D

hell yea bring out the saturn. if an escort rolled up next to me and reved i probabbly would even think about running it. but i can do that since when i roll up next to something they say the same thing about my saturn. hehehe little do they know it is juiced

actually. a 10.3 will get you 16.20ish. that was what my saturn started out at.

i have heard everything under the sun too for attempting to make a saturn fast, but an escort??? ford has so many better canidates than an escort why would you? and i hate fords and i say that. i was stuck with saturns at the time too engine options and worked from there.

i may not be able to hit 155 in my sautrn (stupid govenor 108mph, althought have modified it to 115mph) but i would love to run you with a 6 car head start. hehehehe i am assuming you have stuff done to your z28. if you aren't modded say a 2 might need 3 cars. hehehehe

My old Stratus ( 01 Rt ) Ran High 9's in the 1/8th and I usually ran mid 15's in the 1/4 ( Before Juice:cool: ) 10.3 would be right about a 16 sec. 1/4 using the same ratio...

Well, Im about to install my cam, and after that there wont be much else I can do to improve the underdog L98 motor. With the exception of a blower, but I dont have $4000 layin around to play with at the moment. So I figure its a rebuilt engine with some mild work done to it, so I can easily handle a good 75-100 shot every now and then.

goin back to the original topic, it was said the buick probably let off at 105. they got a 105 SPEED limiter, so do i, because of the 2 piece drive shaft, get an aluminum ds and tires and we're capable of much higher speeds. the limiter on my bird comes in right after my shift to 4th right around 3grand. and are you sure he wasnt towin somthing? we should have taken you off the line and dissapeared into oblivian, unless his torque converter is takin a shit like mine :(

His torque/weight ratio is much better than yours. The SC 3.8 makes TWICE the torque your car does and and close to twice the HP...........

I think you'll find the buick makes more torque then what it's rated for. That motor is much stouter then yours. It also makes torque from idle to redline something I doubt yours does. It will own you moded or not....let it go man.....

no, i havent done anything to the car, so i have to assume it has the 3.8 pulley. I have an 86 Grand National that I sink all the extra money into.
I do however have a friend in brooksville that has done ALOT to his, shift kit, 3.125 pulley, alcohol injection, full exhaust and programmer. That car hauls major ass. Other than the pulley and alky the shift kit was by far the best money he spent.

I'm not going Wednesday anyways, so nothing is going anywhere. I don't have the time nor the money to be racing all the time. My car is my daily driver. This instance was out of a whim, I rarely EVER do any type of racing. I will however set up a run once I get a day off work that's compliant with the T&T schedule and I have enough money to drive way the fuck out to Sunshine :lol: . Some of us have to go to school full time,work full time, and live in BFE which leaves little time for play unfortunately :D
