Default problem with trans..

Did a swap in my freinds civic with a automatic trans. It doesnt go into drive or reverse. It goes into park and N but thats it. Anything to check? Iam guessing the cable where it goes into the transmission behind that casing that kinda helps keep dirt out and what not. It has fluild in it and everything is hooked up right and bolted in right but the transmission isnt going into gear.

The stick moves into park and all the gears just doesnt go forward like its not clicking into gear. Thank you anyone who helps me out very much. Ive got to get this thing going.
