Me and this guy i know with this black t/a ws6 raced my 97 lt1... we punch it from 65 and i hold next to his door till i hit 3rd gear with it. He passes me at 105-110 and then i pull behind as there was a car that seemed like they were going about 10mph, i was gonna pull back into the other lane after he passed me, but i figured id try drafting him, ... 120 it leveled out ... 130 it appeared as though i was catching him, 140 omg im gonna pass him, right when i hit 155 i moved into the other lane for the kill ... just as i was about to pass him he let off!!! Not that any1 here is an expert, but at the furthest i was 4-5 car lengths back .. do you think you could get a sufficient draft to even notice??? Because ive been in his car from those speeds and it kinda dies when it catches 140 (torque converter locks). Is it possible the camaro has better aerodynamics at a high speed, considering that huge scoop on the transam, with that pretty big spoiler it has, too. Needless to say the guy i knew in the black t/a was a little upset

 

At 4-5 car lengths, chances are good that you were not slipstreaming him in the racecar sense, unless he has a huge Cd(big rear wing, some form of downforce on the rear) or you were literally inches from his bumper. I would think it came down to his automatic tranny, the TA's weight and general aerodynamics. The Camaro is more wedge shaped, so that helps, especially at high speeds. Either way, it's interesting that you were creeping back on him.

 

ya ... he said he got to 150, i got going 155 before he let off, so i was charging fast on him .. and mine is auto too, but he is running 3.23 gears, mine still has 2.73. If that has anything to do with it.
