Default 99 passat turbo?????Need Help???????

Ok I tried to do a favor for a friend, with no luck. He took his passat to the dealer and they said he needed a new turbo and cat. I changed the turbo and gutted the cat (he is on a fixed income) when I start it up now its alot better than before but when you put it in gear it has no power, it takes almost a full minute to hit 60......Before it wouldnt run for more than a second or two

If anyone has any suggestions or would like to make some extra cash to come fix the thing, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

first, i would get the car scanned for codes. go to autozone and they will scan the car for free. that will atleast give you an idea of where to start. then i would double check all what you have done. does he have a boost gauge. look for signs of any leaks.

check the codes and reset them and see what comes back.... Im assuming this is an automatic and the check engine light is on.... if this is the case then it is still in limp mode and wont come out until the ecu is reset....if not the case bring the car back to the dealer

hope this helps

160,000 miles car ran great one day and like crap the next. nobody has done anything to it except the dealer to give an estimate. mass air flow is plugged in correctly. I was thinking timing might have jumped a tooth, but have not looked yet.

How do I reset the codes????
