Hmm, good to know.

If the R ever gets totalled or otherwise bites the dust I must admit that the 135 is now on my radar since my need for a 4 door has wained a lot over the last few years.

I have to check my magazines, I got one with 4 different 135s in it, just dont know where it is lol

fyi, the new versions of the N54 engines are going to get a single turbo setup
The new generation of that engine is already for sale (we already have an 135i convertible with it in the shop right now).
Single-Turbo Setup with Twin-Scroll Turbo->respond like 2 smaller Turbo´s, power output like a big one.

The older Twin-Turbos are engineered to stand ~360PS, but for some reasons i don´t know BMW put them on sale with much less power.
BMW offers a Power-Package which adds 20PS.
It includes an ECU remap, improved cooling and so on, for 2000€.
And with warranty, of course.

Alpina (re-)boosted this engine up to 360PS in the Alpina B3, but with other internals as well for longer durabilty.
But now Alpina brings the B3 S, which produces 400PS and
540Nm of torques (398 lbf ft).
They just raised the boost from 1.1 to 1.2bar, replaced the catalytic converters to reduce dynamic pressure and improved the air-intake-system.

Can´t wait to drive one of these.

Nearly all factory turbo sportscars are seriously detuned for drivability and maintenance reasons, they do have to warranty this stuff for a while after all. Then again for a price they will let a select few turn it up a little and stay within the warranty zone since there is still some good safety margin there.

My R was so detuned by volvo that just by getting an ungoverned yet conservative new tune for it (torque used to be ECU limited to 300ft-lbs), I got 40 more HP and lbs of torque without any other mods.

Certainly sounds like the 135 has a lot of potential and I also like its simplicty and good looks.

I'll admit, I do like the sound of those engines.

its one of the best engines BMW ever built, if not the best imo.

But you guys wouldn't believe how many hardcore BMW enthusiasts in the motherlands were yelling blasphemy because BMW put some turbos on the engine (and did with the actual V8tt and V12tt).

BMW had to make a move like this, other German manufacturers or lets say BMW direct business rivals like Audi and Mercedes turbo- and supercharge their cars like nothing else.

And despite all the boosting they manage to match the car's emissions to the EU regulations of the Euro 5 and Euro 6 norms.

My car has Euro 3 and that only because I got a secondary air pump to preheat the cats for better emissions.......in the eyes of the EU my car emits pure death lol.

I saw a nice modded 135 when I went to street heat a few weeks ago, never had a chance to line up or ask him about his times though.

It was all blacked out and had some nice black wheels with red trim and looked mighty nice though.

So far alot of guys are making over 500whp including ours and staying together with no issues. Anywhere between 450whp-500whp is what you are going to see mostly.
