R35 GT-R vs 550rwhp Mustang
Incredible racing at Thunderhill in California. Both cars are in the Super Unlimited class in NASA.
Yea, the videos are long but there are some incredible passes throughout the race. Part one YouTube - GOTO:Racing GT-R First Race, Thunderhill Raceway, Part 1 Part two YouTube - GOTO:Racing GT-R First Race, Thunderhill Raceway, Part 2 |

The GTR has some power adders, weight reduction, cage, race equipment, but is mostly stock suspension components underneath (disregarding the shocks).
The Mustang has a 550whp race engine. The suspension is completely custom underneath. It's basically a caged Mustang chassis dropped onto a full race suspension and drivetrain. For the most part, the only thing Mustang about that car is the bare chassis itself. The Mustang was definitely faster in the straights, but lacked the corner entry and exit speeds the GTR had. However, they were very evenly matched. Given both cars having different strengths and weaknesses, it was interesting to see how they battled around the track. |
The GTR was definitely more planted and poised in the corners, while the mustang was hanging it out a bit and bouncing around..but still holding up.

"Brian Lock battles 700hp Mustang to win Superunlimited at the NASA Race Weekend Thunderhill 8/22/09" Where did 550 come from? Either way great race. |
