no one mentioned "the driver" as the key element ?
any car model can be altered to perform well in any form of racing under the right budget.some vehicles are easier than others.
there are many variations of the skyline and each are engineered and "priced" according to it's class.
did you know that nissan (nismo) is selling used skyines that have been restored with performance mods resembling their GT500 champion vehicles.
*remember also that the JGTC was created because of the skylines dominance in other race forums.
this "used~new" skyline ,although rare and expensive ,it's just an example of how Nissan focused and engineered a true superclass car.
did i mention it's the quickest production car ever ?500hp, 10 sec Z-tune R34.
American engineering could never be denied it's rightfull position as the pioneers and still cutting edge performance cars.like the skyline rare and expensive...

and no one happened to mention the size of the skylines motor versus american motors? are all these domestics fellas forgetting nissans doing this on 2 less cylinders, and a much smaller motor? dont throw the "well it has boost" card at me, thats a good argument. you should be wiping the floor with the skyline. you have a bigger motor. what happened? and how hard is it to build a v8 nowadays? even back in the day? how much skill did it really require to build a v8? can you turn a wrench? good! you can make power on a v8. now go to your local discount auto parts store and buy performance parts. i think its all you old chevy and domestic dodge, ford guys just cand let go of the past. the future is now bitches.

ok agent.. heres the challenge... i will build a 10 second f body with $15,000 including buying the car.. and you go do the same with a skyline and we will see who wins... o wait you cant get a skyline for less than what 40k here? im sick of this bullshit.. so what if the motor is smaller it has twin turbos and all wheel drive.. if my fucking firebird had twin turbos and all wheel drive it would drive circles around a skyline... im done with this shit.. its not my fault japan only gave you 6 cylinders and two turbos when they coulda put a v8 in it.. then you wouldnt have to bitch about how our engine is better...

if your "fucking" firebird came from the factory with twin turbos and AWD who knows how fast it would be.. simple fact is in 1992, it didnt. In 1992 neither GM nor Ford was building cars that matched the R32 ..its pretty plain to see by the fact that they had to change the rules to outlaw it from a production series race. BTW all the cars in the race had to have a minimum of 400 showroom cars made. The GTR debuted in 1989 actually, what AWD TT firebird ?.. or fast american cars period were around then ? .. in 1991 they added 300lbs and limited the boost on the car to stop it winning so many races, it STILL won. 1993 it was outlawd and the rules changed to only allow V8's.
you just cant accept anything else than your mullet mobile.. i've seen American cars.. Holdens.. Aussie fords (both of which FAR out perform anything GM or Ford sells here, and dont cry GTO, GM wouldnt bring the GTS or the GTS-V).. and i've seen japanese cars.. each of them have some pretty awesome cars.. but the one car that sticks out from the early 90's is the GTR. .. hell even the WRX was voted car of the decade in 1995 .. back when it was a fast car that V8's feared.. not the bloated slow thing it is now...
your just ignorant.. you cant appreciate a car for what it is.. the skyline isnt the godly car that some of the other sack swingers on here think it is.. but in its time.. in its place.. nothing produced here would have toppled it.. took a decade before anything that could slay the mighty Godzilla came out of here..

by the way.. probably really chaps your ass that ford had a little 4 cylinder in 1985 that had 650 .. yes 650 HP from a 2.1L - they made 200 including 24 of the "EVO" model.... was called the RS200 EVO... did 0-60 in about 2.9-3.1 seconds and the quater mile in 10.8 @ 128 - stock.
