Default Need help from the f250 guys and girls,

My buddy is trying to get me to buy a 86 f250 4x4. It has the 460 in it, and it leaks oil from some where and need the rear end replaced. But it has a 3 in body lift, and 6 in suspension lift, has 42 in tires, and a 8000lb winch. Im deployed to Iraq so Id be able to fix it before I come home, the guy selling it only wants a grand for it. I guess my real question is, it worth picking it up even with the messed up rear end and oil leak? or should i just walk away. Thanks for the replies.

I wouldn't buy anything without getting to look at it first, I know it's gotta be tough for you though..

Just send someone who knows about cars to check it out and make sure it runs good. Its worth more then 1k as it sits regardless and I would buy it just because of that and I hate fords.
