looking for info on 5.7 diesel
[QUOTE=Just Dave;5053760]
looks like ill be looking for a 2.3T ford turbo diesel then i hate ford but i want a diesel in my s-10
im just trying to prove a point that a diesel wont tare my trucks stock frame apart[/QUOTE
It won't tear your frame apart, mainly because it won't run long enough to do any damage.
Put it this way, that motor blew up so often, the official GM warranty fix was to put a gas motor in it.

The 5.7 diesels, as far as i know, were the same block as the gas engines. They used different heads to make them diesel's. That's why they are famous for blowing up. Definitely not a good motor to use. The cummins will run forever and the 2.3 ford is pretty relieable as well.

agreed with the 5.7 diesel, they were garbage... a 300 d turbo engine off of a mercedes sedan would fit in there nicely and they are dime a dozen.
