ford explorer hesitating

its only doing it right when i take off from a red light or when im stoped the guy i got it from said its the fuelpump but it feels like its loading up becaue it will blow black smoke when it does it

need a fuel pressure gauge and tape it to the windshield while driving around. kinda sounds like a regulator or bad injector.... how is the fuel mileage?
