Default Any one know..

I'm looking to possibly lift the Expedition (No it does not have air ride) a few inches. I'm told by 4 Wheel Parts with a 3" lift I can get 32's under the truck.

I'm not wanting to do anything outlandish, I don't off road. The most I go off road is maybe to paintball fields. I just want a lift. Maybe in the future I'll install some beefy shocks etc, but for now just a cosmetic lift.

Anyone have any expierence with body lifts? I'm told they are generally the least expensive, how ever I kinda see 4WP as being a Pricey chain shop.

Can anyone recommend a reputable shop to install the lift?

You can buy a 3" lift off the net for about 170 for that truck... how much did 4 Wheel Parts quote?

To expand on my first post, a 3" body lift kit is 168.95 and a 2" kit is 159.95 from National Tire & Wheel. But that doesn't include install.... Body lifts aren't that hard to install, but with 3" you may need the steering column extended.

Most hardcore wheelers don't like body lift because it's pointless performance wise, but for your application it will do very nicely...

I wouldn't say pointless. You are still gaining wheel space for additional flex with a body lift. Which is an improvement of stock. But I know what you mean performance wise.

What I really meant was that the body lift isn't adding anything that is essential (which is a major consideration on a budgeted trail rig)... but yes, it does allows for more articulation, however, a fender trim can accomplish the same result without raising center of gravity or overall height

I have the Eddie Bauer one piece over fenders and running boards on the truck now. I hate them. I was thinking of ditching them.

I would like to put some meaty tires under the truck to give it some stability, but I was told I need some clearance for 32"s.

I found one on Ebay a 3" kit for $130 ish.. 4 wheel parts I think did mention I needed a steering extension. Their kit may have come with one and it was around $165 ish. They wanted $500.00 bucks or so to install it. It was fucking silly ! I've found a 4" suspension lift for $400.00 and it would probably be less to install that !

As far as performance, I'm just looking to get some wider rims underneath the truck for a beefy look and more stabilty. Expeditions are top heavy and with stock wheels and tires on this thing it scares me at times.

Again I do not off road. Any time I'm off road is to get to the paintball field(s) Other than that, its my DD.

Would you install it yourself? (asuming you bought the ebay kit) I have to admit, the 500 seems high, but I also don't know how much is involved in doing a body lift on your truck... also, I'm pretty sure you'll need that steering adjustment and maybe longer brake lines too... More info on the suspension lift would be interesting...

I actually called Daystar. They are the Mnfg of the Polyurathane strut style lifts, They don't make anything for the front of my truck due to the style front suspension it is. Super !

I called North Side 4x4 and they suggestion a suspension lift kit. Again more money than I want to spend. Installed they were telling me $1400.00. Sweet and I still have to buy tires and rims.

What a pain in the ass, and I'm only in the research stage still and I'm already agravated with the whole process..

I swear I'm going to sell it and buy another BMW.

500 is the going price to do a body lift....i've been looking around for a while and thats the price i've gotton from all shops in town.....

you can find the lifts on fleabay BUT they don't come with all parts needed to do the install..ie.. bolts, washers, steering extension etc.....

mike i have almost brand new tires f/s with 95+% tread left 33x12.50x15's
they are a quiet street/light a/t tire and i needed something more aggressive....
