Default I need more data about the Lexus SC400

I already know they are V-8 and have 250hp & 260 LB.

Are these good cars and what years are the best for power.

Do the engines or cars have problems?

A starting price for a good condition SC is about $1000-$1500 under Blue Book. Blue Book's values for Lexus cars are a bit high to their actual retail values. Although the trade-in value is pretty much on the dot.

Don't get a first year 300 or 400, go with a second or third year if you can. Any problems in a vehicle model will almost be fixed by the second or third year.

As far as being the most powerful... a second year SC 400 is just as fast as a third year. No differences between them at all other than minor cosmetic appearances.

Any Lexus is pretty much rock solid IF they have been treated well. No burnouts, no redlining, and oil changes and xx,000k mile services on time and by someone certified to do it.

In my experience, people are usually nice to their SCs. The only thing that I know is common among them is the flip-out cup holder just right of the stereo breaks easily. Also the radio or thermostat LED/LCD will burn out and become half lit. If you get a first or second year SC (300 only), you can just replace a light bulb behind the faceplate. Years afterwards and including all other Lexus models will require a completely new display that can cost you any where from $400-$900 in parts and labor.

I work at a Lexus dealership in Seattle and I have never seen a coupe come in for anything other than the display or a new ignition system because the owner lost both of the master keys and wants the lock/unlock/trunk function on his key.

DON'T EVER LOSE YOUR MASTER KEYS. You lose one, no biggie; $250 for a replacement. You lose both and want that functionality back, you'll be expecting a bill close to $3500 for a new ignition system and programmed keys.
