I'm just testing the waters on this, but how hard is it to find and install bigger gears for my truck to sufice larger tires and lift kit. I've heard it isn't always neccesary, but often recomended. At that, I'm a newbie on this topic, so what gears would be best and where do I find out what it has, does anyone know?

 

depends what tires your using and what diff. i think the 7.5 and 8in diffs both go up to 5.88's at riederracing.com, they sell aftermarket lsd's too, thats where i got the true trac lsd i installed in my 84 supra. its for the 7.5in front diff of a 4x4 truck with ifs.

 

I understand this is a broad subject, but I don't know all these specs off hand.

What I do know is that it's a 1986 Toyota Pick-up 4x4 w/ IFS up front and leaf springs out back. As for motor/trans/...., it's got the original 22R carbeurated engine, original 5speed transmission, and original transfer case (the 4WD thingy, for those who weren't sure) however, this all I know.

Where (either on vehicle or internet) can I look this stuff up and find out more to better understand and ask a more specific question?
