Considering a 91-94 Lexus LS400, what to look for?
I'm considering picking up a LS400 as a daily driver and I need to know what issues they may have. I already know to look for low mileage and maintence records, but I don't have any clue on what else to look for that may go bad or on what would be a deal breaker. Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can think of that you may have problems with is that the power steering pump can sometimes leak on to the altenator which sits below it. If the power steering pump is leaking, it's best to replace the power steering pump and the altenator at the same time to save shop labor costs as it's guaranteed the altenator will go out soon after. I've seen this repair cost close to $700.
Other than that, the earlier LS400s are known to have their guage lights burn out and the LCD screen on the radio to fade out. I'm not positive on the cost to fix the guage lights, but they do need to pull the whole cluster. For the radio LCD, you will most likely need to probably need to replace the radio unit depending on the year.

Dude...1UZs are known for being fuckin bulletproof...dont expect many problems at all!!
My theory is that Toyota upped the displacement to 4.3 and tweaked some stuff so that it would actually require maintenance....1UZ dont really, they never seem to break, so they had to make it a bit less reliable so that Toyota could still make money off of repairs

The 4.3 is actually a completely different engine all together, and just about as bulletproof as the 4L. Toyota saw the mistake they made that I warned about in the above post and reversed the pump and altenator. If your theory was correct and was going to tweak stuff to make sure they'd still get money off repairs, they would have left the orientation the same.
Hopefully Toyota will never change it's additude towards making sound, reliable, and sound quality vehicles. My next vehicle is either going to be a Toyota or Lexus because of this fact.
Dude, why do you think I deepthroat them so much?? In a few years, they'll have enough money to buy out GM!
Yeah, the 3UZ is cast iron compared to the 1UZ's aluminum. I dont know much more about them, but definetly somewhere on the top of my list as far as V8s go.
