3tc have proved themselves all over the world as a good motor that can produce power. Just an old art I guess. Any japanese 4 cyl motor is "good" and can make power with enough money. In PR I know there are some 8 sec 3tc powered cars.

Al... I know that your new to this thread but we already got the technical info about 3TC in the 8's above. There is a VG30ET in the 6's also in PR but that dosent make it a great motor... I figure somewhere you have some technical data to contribute

I dont wanna hear about DRAG corollas with disgusting 12 thousand dollar motors or something...

I wanna hear about the STOCK motor and its capabilities... People are talking about destroying everything with intake, exhaust and a carb.. and I'm not buying it.... Give me a reason to think otherwise.

Its like anything else, stock its fairly decient, but you start doing the correct mods it can make a lot of power. You also have to keep in mind this engine was designed in the 70's - its a 1.8L pushrod hemisphirical engine. can you really expect it stock to compair to a b18 or something like that? give me a break... stock 3tc vs 4age 3tc more torque, 4age more HP due to the ability to rev twards 8K.... the 4age replaced the 3tc, in many ways the 4age is better, but the 3tc still has a lot of potential.

Geoffrie is correct. The hemisphirical design of the combustion chambers gives the 2/3TC motors to flow higher cfm volumes than the 4AG can. Another good point is that the 2/3TC motors were engineered alot stouter. I have broken 4AG cranks on carbs and a 100 shot of nitrous. Where I have yet to brake a crank on a 600hp 3TC. Parts are also alot cheaper for the 2/3TC motors. Let me know if you need some help. I stock all the 3TC parts you would need to make crazy horse power.

As for $12K engines, bull crap!!! At the English Town NHRA finals, I blew my last race block and droped in my boys "stock" block with stock pistons, rods and cam. Turned the boost down to 25psi and the car still went 9.70 @137mph twice!!!. The following weekend we had to make an appearence at our local track. I turned down the boost to 20psi and made 5 9.90 passes and 1 10.30 pass before I cracked a piston.

Did I mention that my car weighs 2400 pounds with me in it?
