Transmission Mounts

Anyone else have a problem with the stock transmission mounts?

Dirt Man 07-07-2003 09:53 AM

What constitutes a "problem"?

HKSWRX 07-07-2003 09:59 AM

seperation....

Opie 07-07-2003 10:03 AM

2 things...

1. Stop launching so hard, if you are seperating stock mounts your doing something very wrong.

2. Install STi Group N - Mounts (be forewarned...if you install these and don't adjust your launching habits...something else, other than the mount, will start failing.)

when you say hard launches, im not doing side steps, Im doing like a 3500-4500 slip... but I have been known to do some awd burnouts.... in the rain and such, think thats whats causing it?

:nono:

HKSWRX 07-07-2003 10:47 AM

hey hey, no shaking your head at me, some fellow wrx driver you are... im asking for help here, whats the best way to launch without hurting things?

Billy 07-07-2003 11:10 AM

There isn't a way to launch with out hurting something...but stick with the slip method. You just have to realize that if you start driving any car hard it is going to have some issues, especially when you modify....thats when you really find the chinks in the armor.

HKSWRX 07-07-2003 11:11 AM

Oh I do realize, and dont get me wrong, I wasn't complaining about the issue, I was just wondering if this is a common thing that breaks

so billy, when you're racing, how do you launch?

Opie 07-07-2003 12:02 PM

I have never heard of a tranny mount seperating before...

When launching your 3500-4000 slip it out method is fine, but any "shock" (wheel hop, side-slepping, extreme clutch judder) will start breaking things. Subaru tranny's don't like to be "shocked"...treat them well and they'll be fine.
