If you weld the center diff it will make the car rwd. You have to also take the front axles out for it to work properly. If you are wanting to go RWD then there is a company that sells a locked diff. As mentioned above, the rear drivetrain is not designed to take the extra power etc , so unless you want the temp fix to cost more then the original fix then I personally wouldnt do it.
