Default final clutch question -- we're almost there...

chris and I can't figure this one out. My car will shift gear, but only when off -- the clutch actuator works the fork, which is moving the throwout bearing. If we start the car in gear, we can drive in that gear no problem. When we try to shift, however, its locked... if you persist, you grind gears.

What on earth is going on here?

for anyone thats trying to help, the clutch is getting pulled away from the flywheel but it seems like its not getting pulled enough... the clutch slave cylinder is moving the fork the same amount of another STi that were using for reference.

could the throwout bearing be faulty and not grabbing the clutch enough? or since we're going from an OEM clutch to a Southbend modified exedy unit (solidmass) do we need to adjust anything?? homemade, your needed... lol.

no the fork was seated fine. basically we just played with the clutch pedal for like 30 mins and then bam all of a sudden we could shift.
