Wow. You need to do some research on nasioc.com before you go playing with a MBC on a stock WRX...

Also BOV?? come on now

As far as the MBC goes, It gets really technical. I know it has something to do with Closed and Open loop. I just cant remember off the top of my head.

And the BOV is bad because you car runs lean when the housing opens to dump air. This has been known to stall teh car or even cause engine problems.

But all of this stuff is debated online over and over. I am just giving you my opinion.

If youre talking about the OL/CL delay in the 04-05s, the 02-03s dont have that problem. MBCs are not completely horrible for the early WRXs. As long as the owner has a boost gauge to watch for over-boosting and part-throttle/full boost conditions it shouldnt hurt anything. Granted, some sort of EM is much better, but as long as you know what youre doing you can avoid problems.

Its not that you run lean, in fact you'll run rich when it dumps. Since the MAF has already measured the amount of air that has passed it and the sends the correct amount of fuel to hit the target A/F ratio. Dump the air to the atmosphere (instead of recirculating it back into the turbo inlet) and the car goes pig rich (since theres no air...just fuel). Sometimes it causes stalling, more than likely you shoot fireballs. If you must have the sound, there are aftermarket BPV's out there than can hold increased pressures. Combine it with a CAI and you'll get all the sound you'll ever want or need. FWIW: the stock one is good up to any amount you'd be running on the stock turbo.
