Whats the problem. Try Mastro or any other Subaru stealership.

elmcityrican 05-09-2006 05:05 PM

she took it to a dealership and they told her it was the head gasket, and that it would cost $3500, im saying is that the only place in Tampa a 'dealership' ??...

JonLGT 05-09-2006 08:47 PM

Did they say it was both headgaskets or just one?

Call me ignorant (and drunk....or both), but how is a bad head gasket causing overheating? Wouldn't you be able to see evidence of the gasket leaking? Make sure it is not something as simple as a thermostat before you, or your mother-in-law, consider spending that much $ on headgasket(s).

My vote goes to "ignorant".

the 98's do have a history of blown headgaskets, bring it to mastro subaru & ask for will(opie on here) he'll take care of you.

3500 is a lot for that car... might as well get a new one. shizz.

but i would look at the smaller stuff befor you go to the StealerShip. their main goal is to make money.

alright i got a little more info on this problem...supposedly my father-in-law noticed an oil leek and after checking the car he accidentally left the radiator cap off and THEN the next day when driving is when the car started overheating. They replaced the radiator, and thermostat and its still overheating. im gonna call mastro tomorrow, i called cue the other day but for some reason they told me that they dont do "servicing". If anyone else has any advice id appreciate it..
