Running DP w/o EM
I posted on Nabisco about this in the 2.0 forum and got mixed reviews.
some of them say it is fine to run a DP WITHOUT EM in my '05 wrx.
then there is a huge discussion about how it is bad to run any performance mod without EM because of the open/closed fueling.
Im confused as hell now

I would agree that AP would probably the easiest/semi-safe thing to do, but they're so damn expensive plus the risk of fooling with the car's computer...

I am in the process of combating this problem on my car as well. I personally will not be doing any power mods on my car before it is resolved. I've yet to see any side by side logs of a stock car vs. a car with DP, so I cant say for sure its bad. But if youve got the money for a DP why not save up a little bit more and get some EM first? Especially something like Cobb where you wont have to pay anything more when you do get the DP. There is another fix in the works though. You can PM crazymikie on NASIOC for info on it, but youll need a way to take datalogs from your car and flash a new ROM image to your ECU.
You can check this thred for the entire discussion on this problem and all of the solutions. Ive done a bunch of research on this so if you have anymore questions, lemme know.

personally, I would not recommend doing ANYTHING to a subaru w/out haveing the car tuned. I know of 3 WRX's personally that have had rod bearings fail and other problems with just exhaust, intake, and upipe. one of them didn't have intake ,none had tuning.

So tuning is the way to go. Im going to decide that right now im not ready for modding the car, i dont have the $$ to do it and i really don't want to do it dangerously/half-ass. Thanks for all of your opinions guys.
