Default HKS Downpipe

Has anyone had experence with these? I was recommended Helix, but HKS is known to be a good company and their downpipe is more than $100 less than the Helix. Pros? Cons? Thanks!

HKS is a cheap alternative to a downpipe. There is no entrance for the wastegate to breathe and they are just painted steel. You'll want to go a different route if you want a quality downpipe, especially one that is stainless. Try doing a search on nasioc for a good used one, ie Helix, TurboXS, MRT, APS etc.

I have an Hks downpipe and it's not crap. It's for the budget racer. I would defintly recommend the Helix if I had a choice I would pay the extra 100 anyday

Take a poll on this forum if you think so.

Crap=

Flat flange, no seperate pipe or bellmouth for wastegate

Aluminaized coated steel

No flex in the pipe, and as most cat-backs do not have it you have no allowance for movement

The HKS worked perfectly fine on my '02 WRX but at the time there wasn't many budget minded alternatives. The flat flange honestly works fine with the stock TD04 and smallish turbos. The HKS still looked like-new after one year on my car.

I did have the Helix V2 downpipe on my '04 STi. The fitment wasn't 100% perfect but overall it was a nicer downpipe compared to the HKS.
