you did because the d16y8 head has less compresstion & is taller than the d16z6 head.. I snapped a few of sohc T-belts & no harm was done to the head..or valves..put a T-belt on & go from there........
The Y8 head has a smaller combustion chamber, and has MORE compression. (relative to a z6)
