All the cheap illegal kits that were sold for "off-road" use are now banned for sale. In other words re-based HID bulbs for use in Halogen headlight assemblies are now illegal.

There are still DOT compliant HID components (sylvania xen-arc and Hella sells em' too) but be prepared to pay ($300-$500 each)

IMHO I'm glad to see them go, they annoy the hell out of me.
