Ford Advanced Vehicles received this GT40 new, clad in its Linden Green with white stripes livery. It’s also the first GT40 to come with the Le Mans nose that would influence later GT models.
This was one of six GT40s Ford brought to Le Mans in 1965. Innes Ireland, 1961 United States Grand Prix winner, and John Whitmore, British Saloon Car champion, steered the car in the race. Unfortunately, none of the GT40s finished at Le Mans, including this one, which dropped out after 5 hours due to a cylinder head gasket.
The current owner bought it in 1993. They had it restored in 2013 so it could participate in the Goodwood Revival. Just last year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum displayed the GT40.
