The world’s greatest drivers seem to recognize the world’s greatest cars. Case in point, this Jaguar C-type, first owned by five-time F1 champ Juan Manuel Fangio and now owned by F1 champ Jenson Button.
Legend has it that when Fangio saw the C-type at the 1952 Belgium Auto Show, he had to have one. Jaguar happily complied, selling it to the star driver for half the asking price. Unfortunately, Fangio never raced the car, instead entrusting it to Argentinean Jaguar distributor Jose Millet to compete with. Millet most likely couldn’t acquire the car, otherwise, as his name didn’t have the pull, and Fangio most likely couldn’t race it because of his contract with Maserati.
Fast forward to today, and it’s in the possession of another F1 champ, Jenson Button. He’s raced it in historic events such as Goodwood in 2023 and Monterey in 2024.
