The Chevrolet Corvette C5-R will go down as one of the most successful race cars in history, with more than 30 wins (including at Daytona, Le Mans and Sebring) and three constructors’ championships in the American Le Mans Series. This is one of those cars that started that legendary legacy.
This car, #002, gave the C5-R its first podium finish at Le Mans, a third in class, 10th overall, during the 2000 edition. Andy Pilgrim, Franck Fréon and Kelly Collins shared driving duties on that fateful day. The C5-R also competed at Daytona, Sebring and Road Atlanta from 1999 to 2000.
After its competition days ended, it participated in numerous events highlighting its history, such as the Goodwood Revival, Tokyo Motor Show and North American International Auto Show. Most of the time it displayed at either Pratt Miller or at the GM Heritage Center. After a private owner acquired it in 2013, the Corvette appeared at a Corvette Celebration at Sonoma Raceway, several Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunions and a Goodwood Members Meeting.
