Pro-Israel Group Equips Students to Confront Campus Antisemitism

A pro-Israel group hosted an advocacy training program for Christian students on their school campuses last week on how to be allies with the
Jewish people.
The District of Columbia organization Passages hosted 150 high school and college-age students in the nation’s capital. The students heard from United States Special Envoy to the
Middle East Steve Witkoff, Assistant to the President Will Scharf, and Israel Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter. They also participated in interactive stations that involved prayer, writing letters to members of Congress, and an immersive experience hearing recorded audio from
Oct. 7 terrorist attack survivors.
Passages aims to promote U.S. and Israel relations and combat antisemitism through advocacy uniting Christians and Jews, according to its website.
“Given the rise of antisemitism not only on the Left but even in some factions of the Right, it’s important to educate these students in a way that they know the facts on the ground, the biblical history, and why it’s important as Christians to stand with Israel and Jewish people. And we’re decided to do just that,” Passages CEO Zach Bauer told The Daily Signal.
Bauer said that in D.C., students got to visit the
Museum of the Bible and hear from various expert speakers on Israeli relations over a multiday experience. The program equipped students with the tools they need to combat antisemitism on school campuses.
In the current political climate, it is the goal of Passages to find Christians to rise as “the next generation of Daniels,” Bauer said.
He continued that the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement, a pro-Palestine campaign with a presence on college campuses in America, is something that students should be aware of.
“The dominant narrative on college campuses has been totally hijacked and bears essentially no relationship to the reality on the ground, to the reality of Middle Eastern history, to what’s actually going on in Israel and the broader Middle East,” Scharf said at the Passages gathering, according to a press release.
Leiter said that despite the “tsunami” of false accusations against Israel, the bond that is Western civilization and Israel will not break, the press release stated.
According to Bauer, Passages plans to send nearly 700 students to Israel by the end of the year for educational purposes.
“Your efforts to bring young Americans to Israel, to foster understanding and to build bridges of faith and friendship are nothing short of inspiring,” Witkoff said in his message to the Washington program attendees.
