The price of regular gasoline in 1962 was twenty five cents a gallon. Twenty nine for premium. It was the year I graduated from high school. Two years previous my mom bought a 1960 Ford Fairlane 2 door sedan. Plain as they come. White, with a 292 V8, 2 barrel carb. Not enough power to pull dental floss out of an elephant's butt. No A/C or power steering either. "0" to 60? Bring a sack lunch. I knew when I bought my first car it would be anything but a car like that. (NOTE: I see there are a few 1963 and 1964 cars in these photos.) The Chrysler 300's were known as the banker's hot rods. The first one was in 1955. That would have been the "300A". Every year after that was the succeeding alphabet letter, i.e. the 300"C" was in 1957. The 300"F" was the 1960. By then it had the 392 Hemi w/ two 4 barrel carbs and the 727 "Rock Crusher" push button automatic transmission was normal for the models.
