knocked out power in the area for 12 days.
A buddy of mine lives in Puerto Rico…
I was chatting with him last week about Hurricane Ian and how he fared.
He said there was a bunch of rain, but Ian really didn’t do much damage to his area.
Then he mentioned that hurricane Fiona caused a bunch of problems.
Truthfully, I don’t remember hearing much about hurricane Fiona. But it hit Puerto Rico in the middle of September and knocked out power in the area for 12 days.
The thing is…
My friend is one of us and he was well prepared for the power outage.
So, while the grid was down for 12 days, it didn’t affect my friend or his family.
Several years ago, he installed one of the whole house generators that runs on diesel.
When the power went out, his generator kicked on and for those 12 days his household operated as normal.
However, those whole house generators are not inexpensive. They cost around $15,000, which is what my friend paid.
If I lived in Puerto Rico, I’d definitely get one.
But, where I live, the power rarely goes out and I’ve got my 4 generators that take care of all that I need.
I’ve got 2 solar generators with 6 of the 100-watt panels.
I’ve got my propane generator and lots of propane stored in the shed in my backyard.
And, I’ve got my Honda EU2200i generator that runs on gasoline.
Quick note: I love the Honda generator and it runs great. But if you have a gas generator, make sure and put premium gasoline in it, not the cheap stuff.
Also, start the gas generator at least once per month and let it run for 20-30 minutes.
Do the same thing with the propane generator.
If you run your generators once a month, they’ll be ready to work for you when you actually need them.
So, don’t do what far too many people do and let them sit in a garage for years, while never checking that they actually work.

This is the first time that I’ve ever shown my entire grid-down stash and it will save you a ton of time putting together your own stash.
He went 12 days without power.
