WHAT MUSIC WOULD YOU PLAY? How many shows have you been to that you wondered where they got the "DJ" from? Thinking to yourself that even you could do better. Not only are DJ's there to make announcements but they set the mood for the event, sometimes dictated by the organizer. The DJ's role is to tie the event together.

I had the opportunity to test my knowledge of music this month when DJ Don from Cruisin Orlando was under the weather for two shows. I scanned the enormous list digging deep into my memory of what the songs sounded like by just reading the title and artist, hoping I didn't pick something weird. I found everything from Elvis to Foreigner to Electric Light Orchestra to Dire Straits. I dabbled into the new pop country and alternative plus modern rock. Trying to keep it upbeat, not too hard and not too soft.

Now about announcements, I'll be the first to admit that my mind and mouth do not work in unison upon pressure. I made the disclaimer early on but played great music instead, at least in my opinion. I think I kept most people happy, if anything entertained. It was good to have Don back, but I did enjoy myself once I got pass the nerves. It's not as easy as it looks.
