6.15K subscribersI have a 2011 Dodge Durango in the shop this week and it's getting an engine replacement. It has the 3.6 Pentastar V6 in it, which can also be found in various Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles. Alot of my customers opt to get their replacement engines USED.
Most of these salvage yards only give you a 30 day warranty on the engine assembly. I try to save my customers time and money by inspecting the engines the best I can BEFORE I install it. NOW, I don't tear them down the way I did in this video, but I try to check for some of the things I mentioned in this video and try to catch any red flags if I can.
Typically, I would have never accepted this engine and I would've made them give me another one, but I thought it would make a great engine tear down video for you guys. Also, most salvage yards only guarantee the Heads and Block of an engine. Anything else is considered an accessory which is why they gave me the engine with a cracked oil pan.
Anyways, I hope you learn something from this video. If so, give it a LIKE and share with others. Your Favorite Mechanic, Alex The Car Doctor
