YouTube Pulled the Plug…
Now What?
Josh: We found out the same day as the inauguration that YouTube has completely demonetized us.
Roman: We can no longer run pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll ads on any of our videos. We also no longer have our superchat feature for live chat donations. Basically, they took away the ability to monetize our programs.
It’s true. As of January 20, 2021, our Epoch Times official YouTube channel—as well as several affiliated channels, including Crossroads and Facts Matter—have been barred from monetization on YouTube.
Josh: Now honestly, it was expected, given the current environment of censorship. But, at least for the time being, it's also quite the blow to us financially.
YouTube’s move means that our videos, which have accumulated tens of millions of views, will no longer have ads to support the teams working on them.
Roman: With censorship happening across all platforms, we must be close to the truth as they're trying this hard to shut us down. So we have no plans to stop reporting as we do—and will continue standing up for what we know is true.
