What we did on October 17 2020, unofficially called the Keystone Motor Club Halloween
What we did on October 17 2020, unofficially called the Keystone Motor Club Halloween Party.
and the October fun event........Pictures will be on the way soon.......this page is going into our KMC history and our newsletter.

On October 17 2020 The KMC 3rd Saturday meeting was at 17649 Gunn Hwy and Van Dyke Road 33556 in the Winn Dixie parking lot. 10AM till Noon...At the East side "notch" of the parking lot. We were joined by the Friday Night Cruisers car club and some new people.

The Highly Informal, Strictly Voluntary Keystone Motor Club newsletter has over 15,000 views:
WE are the car scene!

To continue getting meeting notices and photos, it is a good idea to periodically sign in at a KMC car club meeting, or to say HI ! in the newsletter, or send me an email, so that we know you are still interested. And if your interest goes away, just tell us "Get me out of those meeting notices!" and it will happen. lol

Raise your hand if you crossed the finish line with a racing checkered flag! What a fun way to begin our “meet and greet”. The new welcome table provided by the W.O.K –Women of Keystone is really taking shape as a gathering place for information and ticket sales. Of course, it being our Halloween party, we only had one witch stirring up trouble with a bull-horn, at that!

We shot some car BS for about an hour. There were some new people with cars which we had not seen. Milt Roorda arrived early and set out signs at our meet spot by the road. Milt also had on display a broken radius rod from his car.
He is prepping his model T for a multi-day vintage Ford rally and discovered the break from the pre-tour checklist. That checklist is VERY Valuable, and I hope he sends me a copy.
-----------------
Following the October 17 meeting, Milt is retaining the signs for the club.
Gen Rummy is holding our roll of raffle tickets.
We are still looking for our official table, tent and banner....check your garage, please.

-------------------------------------------

Ice, drinks plus some snacks came from Gen Rummy, who also flagged cars in with checkered flags as they arrived, handled the greeting, sign-ins, and the WOK (women of Keystone). Gen had typed up a prototype notice for attendees to look over and make suggestions. The notices of our upcoming meetings will be placed on car seats at other car shows and car meets......for those clubs which are still in business.
----------------
This is an acknowledgement that we helped set the record of 412 cars at the Veterans AMC on the first Saturday of October. And further.....There are 119 photos of cars and people at the 2nd Saturday Breakfast at Insty Tune and some pictures are of our members. At exactly 11:00 a.m. We had a short informative business meeting, then 12 raffle prizes were given out as “trick or treats” for our informal Halloween party. The winner of the 50/50 received $25 from Alan, our ticket winning guy. We now have $76 dollars in our unofficial treasury. Our thanks to everyone that bought a ticket.

Paul Figoni was introduced and told us about the Friday Night Cruisers, and some upcoming events. including the Culvers Friday Night Cruisein across from Westfield Citrus Park Mall.
-----------------
Vic Piano was our Guest Master of Ceremonies.
It was interesting to see Vic's crowd-drawing V12 1939 flathead a second time, (I never knew there was a V12 flathead) with it's fabricated prototype PVC valve,....and to learn that the glass jar (it really was glass) on the firewall........... was filled with Marvel Mystery Oil and plumbed to the carb spacer.

Why? An overhead valve engine has the valves upside down compared to a modern V8, and when stock, some smoke comes out at startup and again at shut down because of the oiling system. V8's have oil naturally draining down hill so modern V8's are always oiled.
-----------------
Things were a little busy....Not too many people took the history survey or the quiz to fill out, but we have our next meetings to try again.
------------------
The 50-50 was operated by Alan Mevorah. Alan brought his Avanti/Chevy and his son Keith rode a '40's Motorcycle. Two door prizes and $25 was won by a Lady from the Friday Night Cruisers car club. $26 goes into the KMC treasury. This is the public acknowledgement at post # 294 in the Keystone newsletter: Bob is voluntarily holding the total amount of $76 for the club.
----------------
Pictures from October 17 will be emailed out in a few days. We may have found a volunteer to take pictures at future meetings and send them in for the newsletter. Jim brought his daughter Isabella.....who has a couple cars of her own and who volunteered her picture-taking abilities.
--------------
Should we be adding more advance notices to our meetings as a planning tool?

Advance notice:
A British car club is holding a New Years day tour JAN 1 2021 along the beaches of Pinellas County with lunch at a restaurant next to the Gulf somewhere around New Port Richey. As we get closer to New Years Day, we may look into joining and touring with them without interfering, since it is their event and they are organizing it. There will be some great photo ops and a great place for lunch.
At least it was when I went with them last time.
-----------------
Advance notice:
Coming on November 21 there will be some donated free chili and one member volunteered to make some Empanadas. We missed having her sign in on the attendance sheet and If she doesn't email to my business card address, I don't know how to contact her. She has a young son who is excited about cars.
We have acquired a separate table for food, as Door prizes may become a regular meeting feature.
We have already gathered a bunch of Thanksgiving door prizes and don't forget the cold hard cash for the 50/50 final drawing. Some lucky person will be getting the pot. Will it be you? See you all on Nov. 21 with your lawn chairs for another fun car show. There's something for everyone. See you then.

Looking forward to the November 21, car meeting. We are cooking up a huge crock pot of Gen's famous contest winning chili for about 24 people or so. We will start serving at 10:00 a.m. when cooked the hottest, and will serve chili and oyster crackers while it lasts. So, be sure to be early or at least prompt for your bowl of scrumptous delight!
----------------
The November 3rd Saturday KMC meeting is November 21.2020.
Social distance with us, drive through and beep your horn, or back in, open your hood
grab some chili and hang out for a while.
