I recall one year at the 24 hours of Daytona, the redneck idiot wearing a straw cowboy hat, gray shirt and carrying a .38 on his hip
was "guarding" a gate.......actually checking passes....... to/from the pits and there was an old, rusty sign still attached to the short chain link fence by a wire that said"
"No women in the pits".
He told my wife that she was not allowed into the pits.
It was a sports car race and there were plenty of women working with the European crews, as well as with Roger Penske's
racing team. The passes given to us for working the Daytona 24 allowed us to go ANYWHERE except onto the race track pavement.
I pointed out to him that within our sight there were maybe 5-6 women walking by on the pit side of his gate.
He said "They ain't no women coming in here.".
I had learned early in life that you cannot change someones mind against their will......
and it's even harder to convince someone who doesn't have any brains to start with.
My wife and I went into the pits by another gate.....right then......and entered through many other gates during the 24 hour race.
But EVERY time when we were LEAVING the pits........we politely exited through mr. idiot's gate.......

There are some people who have always been told what to do by someone else.....
But now that they have a smidgen of power......(minimum wage while checking passes)..........they become buttheads.

I guess these days, those kinds of jerks all go to work running a scanner over people's bare feet at the airport
while a terrorist walks through in full terrorist costume pushing a baby carriage with all kinds of bags hanging off of it.
