2020 Grassroots Racing Calendar: Put These Events On Your Schedule
By
Tommy Parry January 28, 2020Getting started racing is only the first step. Once you’ve got a running car and all the required gear, finding the category which suits you is another hurdle. To help make your life a little simpler, we’ve arranged a calendar featuring some of the big national events for grassroots racing in America.
This is by no means an all-encompassing calendar, nor does it include all the offering out there, but it does hit some of the major series. This should give you a good start on planning for the season (if you haven’t already) whether you’re looking for endurance, time attack, autocross, sprint, or door-to-door events.
American Endurance Racing
American Endurance Racing (AER) is a relatively new series with open rules to allow all sorts of drivers and vehicles. It has even developed its own timing system which can move a particular car into another class mid-race if their pace differs too much from their competitors.
Few series will allow such a wide range of vehicles; one field in AER could include both Class A LeMons cars and World Challenge rockets. Drivers with a racing license with a major sanctioning body, drivers who’ve competed in five LeMons or Champ Car races, or drivers with a proven record of substantial track time are all eligible to enter this interesting new series.

Combining music, drifting, time attack, and road racing, the Gridlife events are something special. Nothing on the North American continent rivals the ambiance at these colorful weekends — only Rudskogen comes close, and that requires a long trip across the Atlantic.
