Hennessey Venom GT – 270 MPH

The Venom GT is a highly modified Lotus Exige crafted by Hennessey Performance Engineering. Hennessy stretches and widens the chassis and incorporates a 7.0-liter GM LSX V8 with two turbochargers mated to a 6-speed manual transmission from the Ford GT supercar.

The record was actually set at the 3.22-mile long space shuttle landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center and the Venom GT is 50 mph faster than the landing speed of the space shuttle.
