This kind of stuff probably has been going on forever.
There was a time during the factory/manufacturer wars, when you could get paid $500
for bringing out a caution flag at the right time to bunch up the cars for a restart.
A Chevy driver would do it to help Chevys for instance.

When races were held on the beach and hwy A1A. some racers would cut the other guys tires with their bumper,
usually when on the South end and far from the pits.

Tony Stewart was the first to discover that a properly placed early design of the NASCAR front air splitter
would cut the front tire of another car that you were next to...........that would force the other brand of car into the pits
and YOUR brand of car moved to the front.
