I am a long time fan of The Lone Ranger. I have the original 1938 movie (making The Lone Ranger older than Superman) as well as many of the old radio programs (which you can listen to here on YouTube for free, so far). If I remember right, The Lone Ranger began on radio in 1933 on Detroit radio station WXYZ. When the first movie came out, it was written by the same people who did the radio program, and maybe that's why it was so good.
My favorite movie serial used to be either Zorro's Fighting Legion or Undersea Kingdom with Ray "Crash" Corrigan. But both of those pale in comparison to the Masked Rider Of The Plains. When I saw that movie, it was just like listening to the old radio program, only better. But like most people my age, we are used to Clayton Moore as The Ranger. That started on TV in 1949. I have many of those original episodes.
So now we come to the Clinton Spillsbury movie. When that came out in 1981, I didn't want to see it. There was such a large controversy at the time and Mr. Moore was forbidden to wear the mask, so he wore oversized sunglasses instead. I will not ever own or even want the latest incarnation of The Lone Ranger because I see what they have done.
They deliberately made The Lone Ranger a joke. Ironically, they did the same thing to The Green Hornet movie as The Hornet was Ranger Reid's Great Grandson. Like The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet started on WXYZ. The only major change was that after December 7 of 1941, Kato changed from being Japanese to Filipino. I guess we aren't allowed to have any heroes anymore.
They have to be cariacatures of what they once were. That is the Liberal mindset for you to destroy all that is good and decent in the world and turn it into garbage.
