A full roll cage and MoTeC data collection system add to the Mark II's track readiness
How do these enhancements manifest when exercising the Ford GT Mark II at one the world’s premier race facilities? First, the lift I’ve experienced when cresting Laguna Seca’s front straight is reduced to a momentary rise in the Mark II’s suspension. Mutlimatic’s aerodynamic tuning keeps the car glued to the pavement throughout Laguna’s Seca’s many elevation changes. That same air management delivers up to 2Gs of later force in high-speed corners, including the turn 6 fast sweeper leading up to Laguna Seca’s famous corkscrew. Throughout the road course the Ford GT Mark II remains planted as Billy flicks through gears while rotating the steering wheel. Behind us the wailing 3.5-liter V6 sounds every bit the racing powerplant suggested by the Mark II’s sweeping carbon fiber bodywork.

Custom Sparco race seats take full advantage of the Ford GT Mark II's interior dimensions
Interior modifications continue the Mark II’s race theme, with custom, aggressively bolstered Sparco racing seats (passenger seat optional), an FIA compliant roll cage, a fire suppression system and a MoTeC data acquisition system with rear camera display. The center console, housing the circular gear selector and engine start button, is relocated in the Mark II. It now lines up with the Sparco race seat’s lower bolster, making it a perfect extension of the seat for bracing the driver during extreme later Gs. This design feature came straight from Billy Johnson's feedback, further reflecting the Mark II’s track-oriented purpose.

A reconfigured center console allows the driver to easily brace himself during hot laps
With only 45 Ford GT Mark IIs scheduled for production, and all of them priced at $1.2 million, the Mark II owner group will be even more elite than the road-legal Ford GTs that required an extensive application process. Ford already has more than 45 interested parties, but if you're reading this and having your own visions of downforce and lateral Gs, the Mark II order window doesn't close until August 31st. Contact Ford Performance or MultiMatic before it's too late.
