Good luck....I believe it is a vacuum leak...somewhere on engine "thingies" ..Unfortunately, it is intermittent , but always needs to be "heard" while driving...Not sitting still...This is why I think the service depts are going to pass on it...unless it happens during any short test drive they perform...50/50 chance...and mine seems to need 40-50 mph to occur...My dealership is located in congested area of roads...and past experience, they do warn "they do not drive it at hwy speeds to evaluate"...Good luck with your visit...and I hope you will post the results...
I have hopefully good news for you! I took it in for an oil change, tire rotation, and they took it out for a drive to try and find the whistle.
They currently believe that the whistle was caused by the one of the front tires being “chopped,” which I assume means the tread was slightly messed up. I do have the original factory tires that are extremely soft, so I would believe it. They moved the tires to the rear and it no longer made the noise.
I have not had any time to verify it’s gone, but they didn’t hear the noise when they drove it again. Since tire rotations are cheap, it would be a great place to start! Especially since the sounds you’ve described are exactly what I’d been hearing.
To the poster above, that’s a good suggestion! I think I had put the windows up and down to test it, but now I’m doubting it. That’s a good thing to try as well! Thanks!
